Albumin Lab Test


Albumin is the most abundant protein in the human body and it plays a number of key roles including (but not limited to):

  • The transportation of medication
  • Maintaining blood acidity
  • Carrying free fatty acids to the liver

Like SHBG, albumin is also a carrier protein for testosterone.

Unlike SHBG it has a very low binding affinity, i.e. albumin-bound testosterone is biologically active.
